Serving Prairie Creek since 1987

No neighbor should go hungry in Prairie Creek

For nearly four decades, our volunteer-run food bank has put groceries on local tables — through weekly distributions, school backpacks, and holiday meal boxes. Your help keeps our shelves full.

Our Story

A community feeding itself since 1987

Prairie Creek Food Bank started in a church basement in 1987, when a handful of neighbors decided no family in our county should face an empty pantry alone. Nearly forty years later, we're still entirely volunteer-run — every dollar and every hour goes straight to the people we serve.

We know our neighbors by name, and we're proud that help here comes without judgment. Just good food, given freely.

  • 100% volunteer-run since day one
  • Rooted in Prairie Creek and the surrounding county
  • Every gift stays local

Our Programs

Three ways we fight hunger

From weekly groceries to holiday tables, we meet families where they are.

Weekly Grocery Distribution

Fresh produce, pantry staples, and proteins handed out every week to any household that needs them — no appointment required.

School Backpack Program

Kid-friendly meals and snacks sent home each Friday so students who rely on school lunches don't go hungry over the weekend.

Holiday Meal Boxes

Complete holiday dinners for hundreds of local families each Thanksgiving and December, so every table can feel full.

Our Impact

Real numbers, real neighbors

Last year, our volunteers distributed more than 320,000 pounds of food to over 1,400 households across the county. Our backpack program supported 500 local students every week of the school year.

We publish our annual report and financials openly, because the trust of our donors is the foundation of everything we do. When you give here, you can see exactly where it goes.

  • 320,000+ pounds of food distributed last year
  • 1,400+ households served countywide
  • Open books — annual reports available to every donor
