Nourishing our neighbors, one week at a time
For more than three decades, Prairie Creek Food Bank has been a volunteer-run source of fresh groceries, school support, and holiday meals for families across our county. Whether you need a hand or want to lend one, you're in the right place.
No neighbor should go hungry
Prairie Creek Food Bank began in 1987 when a handful of neighbors decided that no family in our community should face an empty pantry alone. Today, we're still entirely volunteer-run, and every dollar and hour goes straight into feeding people.
We serve thousands of meals each year to families, seniors, and children right here in Prairie Creek and across the county. When you give here, you're helping the person next door.
- 100% volunteer-run since 1987
- Serving all of Prairie Creek County
- Every gift stays local
How we help our community
Three core programs meet our neighbors where they are — no matter their age or circumstance. Everyone is welcome, and access is simple.
Every week, we hand out fresh produce, pantry staples, and household basics to any family in the county who needs them. No appointment required — just stop by during distribution hours and our volunteers will help you shop with dignity.
For local kids who face hunger on weekends, we send home discreet backpacks filled with easy-to-prepare, nutritious food every Friday. Partnering with area schools, we make sure no child starts Monday on an empty stomach.
Each Thanksgiving and December, we assemble complete holiday meal boxes — a turkey or ham and all the fixings — so families can gather around a full table. Sign up in advance and pick up during the weeks leading up to the holidays.
Your generosity feeds families here at home
As a volunteer-run organization, we keep our costs low so your support goes further. A single donation stocks shelves, fills backpacks, and packs holiday boxes for our neighbors.
We believe in full transparency — donors can always see where their gifts go, and we're proud to steward every contribution with care.

Volunteer shifts start here
Our work is only possible because of neighbors who show up. Whether you can sort groceries, pack backpacks, or greet families at distribution, there's a place for you. Shifts are flexible and every hour makes a real difference.
